Guildford and Godalming Croquet Club are now running a weekly dedicated session for members of local U3a groups. Starting in summer 2025, the group of croquet newcomers, pictured above, learned how to play the game and from being complete novices at the game they developed into competent, and sometimes fearsome players and have become so hooked on the game many have joined the club.
Said Ginny of Farnham U3A “ I have enjoyed the sessions immensely ; everyone at the Club is so friendly and has encouraged and supported us newcomers. As a complete novice I was quite surprised how much I have enjoyed the sessions and I can participate to a reasonable standard.”
Helen from Guildford U3A said “ The U3A croquet sessions have been great. Each week I learn a little more and laugh a lot!”
Very much in the spirit of U3A!
We play every Thursday morning 10.30 – 12-30.
In 2026 we will offer two free taster sessions on the 30th April and 7th May.
After that, the cost will be £100 for the full season to end September, (22 sessions) payable in advance to the Croquet Club as a lump sum or in £20 monthly instalments paid by standing order.
The play is at Guildford and Godalming Croquet club,(GGCC) in Godalming.
The Club provides all the equipment including mallets and the group will be supported by our coaches and other members of the Croquet Club. The aim is to have a positive social feeling to the group with breaks for tea and biscuits at carefully selected moments. The last session in September will be a “friendly” competition.
If you are a member of a local U3A group and would like to book a place for the taster sessions please complete the bookings form here.
Following the taster sessions places on the group from the 14th May 2026 will be allocated on a first come first served basis, to a maximum of 20, on receipt of the completed application form and payment of the invoice from Guildford and Godalming Croquet Club
The application form can be found here.
If you would like an informal chat first please contact your U3A group leader
