Yet another hot day – lawns like concrete…..
Phil Tremble 3, Graham Lamacraft 4, Peter Adams 4 and Philly Hook 10 made up our team. Woking brought a sub and with handicaps of 5, 10, 11, 12 and 14 we had some challenging target scores.
Round one, two doubles, was not hugely successful for us. With some trepidation we went into the singles round, however we won 3 of the games. So the final round was critical – we needed to win 2 out of the 3 games.
Peter and Phil both succeeded in their singles. Philly and Graham narrowly lost, as the game went to time, and although it was 4 all, Woking had a better percentage . No matter, overall the team won 5-4!
Afterwards we relaxed and socialised in the shade, eating our picnic lunches, grateful for the breeze and pleased we could leave the poor old parched lawns.
