Courts like concrete, multiple last minute changes to the team, and 30 degree heat didn’t deter Team B from winning against Merton B.
Our opening round of 2 doubles got us off to a good start. Round 2 , four singles was a bit more challenging, with only Jan and Janet managing to secure a win. Motivation flagging we all agreed to have a lunch break. Spirits thus revived we commenced a final round of three games, knowing full well that with a score of 4-2 the fat lady was yet to sing.
Maggie and Janet opted to play doubles, leaving Hilary and Jan to play singles. Jan had the misfortune of playing the same “bad handicap 5” as she called herself, who had trounced Hilary earlier . Luckily Hilary pulled back from 3-0 down, to win 8/8:5/6.
And so we squeaked a win, 5-4! Girl-power 😂
